  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

    Hashimotos, allergies, skin conditions

Hi, I'm completely at a loss and was hoping to please get some advice. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's about 6 years ago but nothing was ever done about it. Now I have been diagnosed again as my antibodies levels are through the roof and my ultrasound is not good. I now have a lot of other problems such as allergic reactions to mosquitoes (never had a problem before) skin rashes over my body and lesions on my scalp with burning pain. I think these are all related in some way probably from my thyroid, but each time I get a new problem my Dr sends me to a new specialist which doesn't help because the specialist only treats the area they specialise in. My endocrinologist was only interested in my thyroid and not the rashes etc. The respiratory Dr was only interested in the allergic reaction from the mosquitoes bites and no one seems to be interested in the whole picture and all of the symptoms combined. This may be normal and maybe that's how doctors work, but I would like to know is there is a Dr who can help deal with all of these symptoms at a whole? Would it be an immunologist? I'm not a Dr but I believe it could be my high thyroid antibodies levels that are causing these problems and maybe are now attacking my skin as well as my thyroid. Please, can you tell me would the immunologist be the best person to see or what other kinds of Dr's do I see? I'm only from a very small country town and I can't seem to get proper help or to the bottom of the problems and I keep getting worse each day so any advice would be much appreciated!
