    Blank vision after standing up quickly?

    Sometimes when I stand up quickly after laying down my entire field of vision goes white/blank for a few seconds. Why is this?

    Such visual symptoms may be associated with “orthostatic intolerance”. It is an abnormal response to standing or sitting upright, resulting in decreased blood pressure, inadequate blood flow to the brain, and speeding up or “racing” of the heart. 

    Treatment may include drinking plenty of water and an oral beta-blocker to slow down the heart.
