Dairy products are the major sources of lactose, which includes milk, yogurt, cheese (esp. soft cheese), custard, evaporated milk and ice-cream. However, some non-dairy product may contain “milk” too such as cake, bread etc. The best way to detect it is “Read Food Labels”, both the ingredient list and allergent list at the back of package. In addition, research does show that small quantities of milk (up to 1/3 cup) may be tolerated by many individuals, even those are diagnosed with lactose malabsorption.
