    Technically this word means inflammation of the sinuses. Clinically it is rather useless on its own and needs to be incorporated into a more complete description of the underlying cause (just like we do for different types of arthritis, for example). As the causes of sinusitis are divided up into at least 12 categories, each with a list of medical conditions within each category, things can get rather complicated.
