I am a fairly active 69-year-old. The report of a Chest CT scan done in January states that an incidental finding is an Aberrant Right Subclavian Artery. This is the first I’ve heard about the CT findings - the GP who ordered it and my own GP have not spoken to me re this finding. I’ve been told my my GPs since 2003-4 that I have asthma (I cough quite a lot). I also have been diagnosed with Barrett’s Oesophagus a few years ago.
I’m seeing a respiratory specialist this week. I’ll inform him of the finding but I was wondering if there could be a connection between my persistent cough & the ARSA. The specialist isn’t convinced I actually have asthma & has arranged an asthma challenge test. I’m an RN (retired - working some casual mental health shifts) but specialised in midwifery & mental health so don’t have a lot of information or insight into what it means to have ARSA.
I would like to have my tonsils removed but am frightened by the horror stories of haemorrhage , infection and pain. Many GP's seem reluctant to encourage this but I wish I had done it a long time …
