Our 4 y.o (nearly 5) girl has an earache. She's in quite a bit of pain which we try to manage with paracetamol and ibuprofen. Our doctor said antibiotics (e.g amoxicillin) for children > 4 y.o is only useful in 2% of cases, will cause negative issues in 10% of cases, and we presume of no effect in 88% of cases. Is that the conventional guidance?
