Is it possible for migraine symptoms to change over time?

About a year ago I woke up one morning and had 2 white spots in my central vision for about 20 secs (but peripheral was fine). My doctor sent me for a CT scan but nothing showed up. I went to an ophthalmologist and my vision was fine. But he ordered an MRI to check my optic nerve which was fine, but they did find 10 white matter lesions non-specific. So I went to a neurologist and he said migraines because my mum gets them too. But the symptoms I used to get before the white spots happened are much different to the ones I get now.
