What is causing my foot pain?

For the last month and a half, I've been feeling pain while walking, located on the inside of my foot, it hits also when I apply pressure to that spot. Last few days, its been constantly aching. I do not recall doing anything to my foot recently but over the years have had many bad sprains. What could be causing my foot pain now and what are my treatment options.

Thanks for your question. There are too many potential diagnoses to list, and the possibilities depend to some degree on your age and medical history, and on whether you have sustained an injury or trauma to your foot leading up to these symptoms, or whether they've come out of nowhere.

If your pain doesn't settle with rest, ice, elevation and anti-inflammatory tablets, then the first thing is get a weight-bearing xray series of your foot, and get your GP to refer you to a good foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon for examination.
