  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

Where can I get help for perthes disease?

My 8 yr old has perthes disease. He gets cramps at night and waddles and now his back hurts. He has it in both hips. I have taken him to hospital to see the orthopaedic doctor for kids but he says there is something else wrong with him as he has it in both hips.

He told me my son was of short stature and would be a dwarf but he is growing and is app 135cm tall. In the past years on his fathers side of the family everyone has had an operation and are okay now but my son seems to be too difficult for doctors and I am getting no help.

He was diagnosed at 3 years old. I have found a doctor in Melbourne but I dont understand why there is not one in Sydney nsw. I suffer every night hearing him cry and waddle and get teased by other children and dont know what to do.
