As we don't know exactly what causes learning difficulties, it is difficult to know how to ‘prevent’ difficulties. What we do know is that providing your child with a rich learning environment, with lots of different experiences can be beneficial to their overall development. Love and Reilly have a lovely website about supporting language and literacy development in childhood and of particular interest, an article about using play as a learning tool http://www.loveandreilly.com.au/images/pdf/play.pdf
