There are many, varied symptoms of food intolerance. In food-intolerant people, the foods exacerbate underlying conditions or tendencies, rather than actually causing them. Everyone is unique in the pattern of food intolerance and symptoms.

The only sure way to know if you have a food intolerance is to do an elimination diet of some sort and then if the symptoms subside, do controlled challenges with the excluded foods to see which bring the symptoms back.

For the actual details of which foods to exclude and the type of elimination diet, it is best to consult an Accredited Practising Dietitian who has an interest in food intolerances. They will be able to help you decide what elimination diet to do and ensure that your diet is still adequate.
