You can get physiotherapy treatment through a private practice on Medicare, if your doctor requests you be on a enhanced primary care program. This is something you need to discuss with your GP.

You may be eligible for an Enhanced Primary Care Plan if you have been experiencing a chronic illness (6 months minimum) and are seeing at least 3 health practionners for this condition. Patients who are eligible for these plans can claim with Medicare for Allied Health services such as Physio, Exercise Physiology, Podiatry etc). This provides a rebate of approximately $51 for 5 sessions per calendar year. If you discuss this with your GP, they should be able to let you know you meet the eligibility criteria and if so, they may organize this for you.
