    Hi,

This is a complex question because it may refer to several things. On the one hand, if you have a dislocated finger and the chiropractor reduces the dislocation back to normal, the results are very permanent. If, on the other hand, you are seeing a chiropractor for maintainence care, the duration of the effect will vary depending on your age, physical condition and what your activities are (I'm sure you can appreciate a rugby player may have to see a chiropractor more often than most people). If you have an acute injury like a dysfunction of one of the joints in your body causing acute pain, it is common to need a few treatments in close succession to get on top of the problem and make sure you are back to health; much the same as when you are sick with a bacterial infection, you need to take the whole course of antibiotics, not just one tablet to get better.

    Hope this helps.
