Managing type II diabetes effectively is really important to ensure healthy aging, and keeping the myriad of associated health problems at bay. Acupuncture and it's associated therapies of Moxibustion, cupping and anarecular therapy, as well as massage and herbal medicines, can be helpful in managing the various stages and challenges that diabetes presents to patients.

I have referred a number of my type 2 patients to Dr Liu who runs Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM) Centes in Chatswood and Bondi.  The patients who have followed his program, called the 101 Wellbeing Program, have mostly gone into remission with their diabetes. This means that their blood glucose levels and HbA1c returned to normal, with no further medication. This is possible due to big changes in their diet and exercise routine, together with the herbs and acupuncture treatments, which helped to restore a balance in the body through supervised weight loss.

I would normally not recommend to use TCM, at least not without checking with your doctor first, but i can tell you that I have done the program myself and not only did I lose 18kg in 10 weeks, I am no longer addicted and dependant on carbohydrates, processed foods, fats and salt! It may be worthwhile checking it out for yourself, though I have to warn you: it is to for everyone and it is not cheap! But it works…

It has been a few weeks since my original post. Can I just tell you that I have created an amended version of the “101 Wellbeing Program”, I guess you could call it the Shire Total Healthcare Program", which incorporates a low calorie, low carbohydrate diet which is suitable to people with diabetes, provided some adjustments to their medication are made… Please contact me for more details.

    Hi Caroline,

Could you share with me the Shire Total Healthcare Program.  I have type 2 and am looking for ways to remedy this.  What are the cost-benefits of doing the 101 Wellbeing program? I live in Adelaide.  My email is:  dess.pearson@gmail.com

    Kind regards

    Dess Pearson
