Crohn disease can be associated with a number of complications that occur outside the gut. These can include the skin, the joints, the eyes and the liver.

Two types of liver disease (autoimmune hepatitis and sclerosing cholangitis) can occur in Crohn disease. These need specific tests to diagnosis and may need additional treatments and monitoring.

In addition, some people with Crohn disease will need medicines that can irritate the liver. This side-effect could also lead to jaundice.

So, in answer, it is not normal to have jaundice with Crohn disease: if someone with Crohn disease does have jaundice, then they should be reassessed and the reasons worked out
