Sciatica is low back pain combined with pain through the buttock and down one leg. The pain sometime goes down to the knee and as far as the foot. Some of the most common causes include disc herniation, a tight muscle (piriformis syndrome) or wear and tear in the spine. I've written more on sciatica causes and treatments on our clinic blog. Feel free to have a read!

Sciatica is what happens when your sciatic nerve—kind of like the body’s superhighway for leg signals—gets irritated or compressed. It usually causes shooting pain, tingling, or numbness running from your lower back down your leg. The most common culprits? Disc bulges, spinal stenosis, or even tight muscles like the piriformis pressing on the nerve. The good news? In most cases, sciatica can be managed without surgery through targeted physiotherapy, mobility work, and strength exercises. At UpPlus Physiotherapy, we focus on getting the pressure off the nerve, improving movement, and strengthening the right muscles so you can get back to feeling good. If your leg’s been giving you attitude, let’s fix that! 💪
