Endometriosis is a common condition, affecting up to 10 per cent of females of reproductive age. In endometriosis, the tissue that normally lines the uterus (also called the endometrium) is found in sites outside the uterine cavity, such as the ovaries, peritoneum (tissue lining the pelvis), bladder, and bowel. Endometriosis is responsible for pelvic pain, infertility and negatively affecting health quality of life.
