General GP guidance for a simulated client scenario - unintentional weight loss

Hello, I am completing a workplace assessment for CHCPRP005 – Engage with health professionals and the health system. I am seeking general professional guidance regarding a fictional, de-identified client scenario.

The client is a 27-year-old female who has experienced approximately 10 kg of unintentional weight loss over 45 days. She has stopped having her menstrual periods and is experiencing lethargy. She exercises approximately six days per week and follows a vegetarian diet without dairy products. She has not had any recent medical assessments or blood tests.

From a general GP perspective, would this presentation warrant a medical assessment? What would generally be the appropriate first step, and would referral to an Accredited Practising Dietitian or another health professional potentially be appropriate?

I am only seeking general educational guidance for my assessment, not a diagnosis or individual medical advice. Thank you.
