Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners
Blocked tear duct
I have had a blocked Tear Duct now for a few years. I saw an Eye Specialist as my left eye used to water sometimes. I think its severity depends on the seasons. He did try to clear it within his surgery but it didn't work. He told me about the surgery he could perform to create a new Tear Duct, which I thought was very invasive and I have read where it is not a 100% successful and can have many complications as well. I am 71 years of age and very anxious about this surgery.
My eye now has a yellow discharge coming from it. I have been bathing it in Saline but this morning on waking when I washed it with warm water, there was some blood as well and seemed to have a little lump near the Tear Duct. However, this went after I cleaned it up. My eye gets quite itchy by night time.
Is there another treatment or suggestion for me? I am worried and do not want invasive surgery.
Looking forward to your reply.
