Hey. I work for a Spinal Cord Injury Charity who has been contacted by a gentleman aged 75 suffering from severe pain in the lumbar region. His GP has referred him to a couple of specialists, a neurosurgeon in Sydney and an orthopaedic Surgeon in Orange. Unfortunately neither is available in the next 3 months. The GP has said there are no further options though I can see a number of other surgeons based in Orange. The exact issue (taken from the referral) is due to Spondylolisthesis of the L4 and L5. HE has significant spinal canal stenosis.
Due to the fact he is on a pension, going for a private appointment is not realistically affordable and I was wondering if there were any specialists that if we got the referral from his GP, would be able to see him on the public system for management and options please.
Unfortunately as this is not a spinal cord injury, we are unable to help him with funding but we are trying to help in other ways such as this. Happy to answer further questions.
