    Why does my pulse drop to 48 or 24 when relaxed?

    As soon as I relax, pulse goes ‘Kentucky’ & when asleep, drops (I think to 24) as I awake up gasping for air.
    Technician says pacemaker is pacing 100% @ 70!
    Cardiologist says output down to 30%. Just had 5th angiogram to show clean arteries!
    BP normal. BMI 25. Age 81. Bloods O.K.
    Have just been prescibed Carvedilol & Ramipril & Asprin.

    You may have frequent ‘ectopic beats’ - extra heart beats that are weaker than the normal heart contractions and you may not feel the associated pulse at the wrist, therefore causing a perceived slower pulse rate.
