    Setting up and using crutches will depend on the injury you are suffering. Ideally this should have been done for you when recieving them from the physiotherapist at the hospital or clinic. If  this hasn't occurred there are two important things to adjust:

    1) When standing upright with the crutches your elbows should remain slightly bent- around 10-12 degrees.

    2) the upper pad should rest about two fingers below your armpit. Any higher and you will place to much pressure on your armpit rather then hands and can experience nerve pressures.
