The medication you are taking are anti-biotics and one of the side effects can be an upset stomach as well as diarrohea.

In terms of dietary managment of diarrhoea, a low fibre/residue diet is recommended. Food which you can include are low fat milk and yoghurts, white breads, pasta, and rice, ripe bananas, melons, well cooked vegetables without skins or seeds, potatoes without the skin and decaffinated tea and coffee to name a few.

Foods which should be avoided are high fibre foods such as whole-grain breads, cereals, pasta, brown rice, raw vegetables, all fruits (except ripe banana's and melons), cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, gastric irritants such as alcohol, caffeine, spices and high fat foods.

These dietary interventions are short term until symptoms subside and I would recommend you talk to your doctor about these symptoms, and it may be  worth a trip to visit an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) who can help you modify your diet to help alleviate your symptoms. As above, i would also encourgae taking a probiotic when the anti biotics are completed to help restore the good/bad bacteria ratio in the gut.

A question i would ask is “What other stomach symtpoms are you having?”  If there is a burning sensation, if their is severe bloating, foul smelling flatulence, then i would suggest seeing your doctor again to monitor. In the mean time, follow the food suggestions that chris gave and keep your eating simple.
