Conjunctivitis is an inflamatory eye condition characterised by red, sore or itchy eyes, often with discharge (when your eyes are sticky of gummed up).
Conjuctivitis can be caused by many causes, including bacterial infection, viruses, allergies, toxins or trauma.
Conjunctivitis is often treated with antibiotic eye drops, these will be very effective if it is a bacterial conjuctivitis, but not always effective if the condition has other causes.  It is a good idea to have your eyes examined by your Optometrist or GP if you have sore or red eyes, so that the most effective treatment can be recommended.
