Hi there, diet can certainly help to reduce the risk of developing infection due to your low immunity. The following recommendations may help you:

    • Meat and meat alternatives – need to be cooked well
    • Dairy products – need to be pasteurised (avoid soft cheeses and probiotics)
    • Fruit and vegetables – peeled and cooked preferred. Avoid overripe or damaged fruit or vegetables, pasteurised OJ is ok,
    • Herbs and spices – need to be cooked
    • Water – bottled mineral water

For more detailed advice and a plan that works for you I recommend you speak to an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD). You can find an APD by logging onto www.daa.asn.au
