    Adult ADHD Treatment

I saw my GP about going back on my ADHD medication. I was diagnosed at 17, a couple of months before my 18th birthday. I took Methylphenidate and Lisdexamfetamine for 3-4 years.

Now 26 my GP refused to write a prescription and told me to get retested. Is this normal for ADHD? I thought ADHD is a lifetime diagnosis. I know that the tests are expensive and I don't want to pay 2 grand for something I know I have. I have a copy of my diagnosis however the psychiatrist gave authority to my GP to prescribe me.

I need some advice. Can I go to a different GP to get a prescription or do I need to be retested and go back to my original doctor? I’m really struggling at the moment and really think the medication will help.
