    Torn ligaments in ankle

    Related Topic
I am 60 years and have recently sprained my ankle. Ultra sound has shown three complete ligament tears and X-ray has shown a small chip off the ankle. I have ankle taped and most of swelling and bruising has resolved. I am now doing gentle walking at home/office etc with very little discomfort and virtually no pain. At no stage have I required pain medication. I understand my ankle will be very unstable with only one ligament supporting it.

Do I have any options here or is surgery the only one?

If so, is there an optimum time period surgery should be done?

Can I afford to wait six months or a year or will this affect outcome?
