    Fibromuscular dysplasia

I am a 38-year-old female. A year ago I survived a stroke due to a carotid artery dissection. Three aneurysms were found in my brain but have now been clipped. I had an angiogram in August and the doctor advised that I have fibromuscular dysplasia (FMD) which was most likely the cause of dissection and possibly the aneurysms.

None of the specialists or my GP seem to think there should be further testing for my heart and kidney arteries. My renal arteries were checked via ultrasound and they are small especially on the right. My last neurosurgeon suggested that I seek support from a rheumatologist but I don’t think he is correct. Most doctors I have seen do not understand FMD.

What is the correct procedure when someone is diagnosed with FMD?

What tests should be completed and who should my GP refer me to for ongoing FMD information and support?
