  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

TBI in 1987 resulting in undiagnosed ADHD and EFD, who can help me?

Hit by car aged 4, initially quadriplegic now right side hemiparesis. Medico-legal reports during primary school noted high IQ but slight issues with memory. Reports in high school slight lowered intelligence and increase in poor memory, cognitive function and processing, ultimately failing high school. Did not know the significance of issues and spent next 10 years as a mother. An attempt in 2012 at Tafe saw me barely scrape through, and now in private college have deferred twice on a 1 yr intensive course. All symptoms dismissed by doctors under an umbrella of severe depression. CBT, DBT, EMDR and years of talk therapy have helped me overcome my past, yet no one listening when I say there is 'a block' and 'no function'. All aspects of my life dysfunctional as I am unable to navigate them with my authentic ability. After near giving up found many scholarly articles stating symptoms of ADHD and EFD present after TBI, but having trouble finding a doctor to listen. Please help, my life is in chaos.
