    The LAP-BAND® System is a medical device which is an adjustable gastric band that is placed around the upper part of the stomach during a minimally invasive procedure. The LAP-BAND System works by applying a constant gentle pressure to this area; this increases the feeling of satiety, or a feeling of fullness, therefore people with a LAP-BAND eat less. The LAP-BAND is a permanent device, but can be removed if required.
