  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

I would like to know about consultation price and does it really help?

I have had constipation problems for approximately 2 years and because of this, I started using senna laxatives years ago, by advise of my friends. It helped, but I had to increase the dose from 2 tablets to 30-35 tablets. I tried to eat dates and yogurts to help myself, because I'm really tired of laxatives, but it didn't help and my body got used to it. After, I used bysocodil tablets (because I've heard they are stronger and the taste is not as bad as senna's). However, I don't know how to help myself. My diet is good and I'm taking vitamins, but constipation is really killing my life. I don't want to use laxatives for the rest of my life. I hope you can answer me.

It sounds like constipation has been a real problem. It is unusual to develop constipation out of the blue without a prior history. Constipation is associated with a number of medical conditions as well as medications. I would suggest you see your GP in the first instance and perhaps a referral to a specalist.
