  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

Should I get a second opinion?

I have stayed with the same rheumatologist for 33 years, recently he failed to tell me that the tablets he wanted me to go off of cold turkey were habit forming, it took me five days of extreme pain and withdrawals to work out why I was feeling so bad. Also I got an MRI on my back and as I was going overseas so asked for a copy of the report just in case, when I got it, it stated I had a growth in my uterus, and that I had bulging discs - my doctor never even told me! I would never have found out unless I asked for the report! I have had to have emergency help with the uterus especially. I just feel he is not "seeing" me as a patient anymore. I feel disloyal but I also feel scared in case he does something else! Should I switch doctors?
