What is the level of success with stem cell therapy?

After a car crash breaking both ankles many years ago. Over time the pain has increased and mobility decreased. Orthopaedic surgeons have recommended either realignment or fusing with the preference for fusion. Rehabilitation afterwards could take up to a year. As I value the mobility I have, I am looking towards stem cells with its quick delivery and being able to walk out after the procedure. I know no option has a guarantee of success.
