    Should I force my old retainer to fit?

    Hello. I used to wear braces for 3 years (15 years old - 17 years old), then i only wore the retainer for 1 1/2 years. Now i'm 22 and I notice that my front lower teeth have shifted a bit. The retainer for upper teeth still fits perfectly. However, I had to force the retainer for lower teeth to fit and I feel pain while doing it. So is it safe for me to use the old retainer (only at night)? Will it shift my teeth back into place? Replies would be highly appreciated
