  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

Is it safe to have BCG vaccination within one month of regular vaccine?

My son is 2 months old. He had his 6 weeks vaccination last month.

Midwife suggested to have BCG today though its within 1 month of first vaccination. Is there any side effects of the BCG vaccination (in this case oral) is done within 1 month of 6 weeks vaccination.

To my knowledge (as a health professional whose interests include immunology, not a clinician), there is no evidence that oral BCG poses a significant risk after other immunisations.
