    Is it normal at age 56 to have ovulation symptoms and bleed?

    Ovulation symptoms 14 days ago, now have a bleed, normal, aged 56?

    I had ovulation type symptoms about 14 days ago, mucus. Now have a bleed, have not had a period for bout 2 years. I am aged 56. Is this 'normal"? seems odd to me. Have dr appointment next week for pap test.

    It isn't normal, and you must tell your GP next week. Once you have stopped having periods for 12 months you are considered post menopausal ie your ovaries wont produce any more female hormones and you will not ovulate or have periods. Bleeding after menopause should be investigated as it may reflect a serious cause. Have you started taking any complementary medicines or hormonal therapies recently?
