    Can skin iritation be a sign of diabetes?

    I have had skin iritation and itchiness in my groin area for several weeks now. Could this be a sign of diabetes?

    It certainly is possible as skin irritation is a symptom of type 2 diabetes.  There also could be other causes of the skin irritation and itch.

    The best thing would be to schedule an appointment with your GP to have the rash assessed and to discuss the possibility of having a fasting blood glucose test if you haven't had one recently.  

    Risk factors of type 2 diabetes include age, being overweight, being inactive, having a family history of type 2 diabetes and smoking.
