    Do probiotics help Crohn's disease?

I would like to know if any probiotics have any beneficial effects on Crohn's disease? Which strain?

A Cochrane review in 2009 concluded that there was insufficient evidence to make any conclusions about the efficacy of probiotics for induction or remission of Crohn's disease.  They also stated that there is a lack of well designed random controlled trials in the area and that further research is needed.

This is a difficult question to answer.  A particular strain might be effective in some people and not in others. There is probably no harm in trialling probiotics but they may not be helpful.
