    Should I choose a personal trainer that is the same gender as me?

    If it matters to YOU, then yes it matters. Personally, if I were choosing a PT, I would choose a female because I get intimidated by braindead muscle gym junkie males… but that's a personal opinion.

    What really matters is the PT's knowledge and ability to understand how to assist you. Since the tertiary education system is “generic”, it means all trainers *should (depending on the institution they've “studied” at) be taught the same principles and techniques. Gender is something that is YOUR choice based on YOUR wants & needs.
