Bullying at work is more prevalent that most people realise. I am a registered Psychologist in private practice on the Gold Coast and have treated clients who have experienced workplace bullying. Many have been bullied by their line Manager (where there is a power imbalance and some anxiety around their job tenure in today's economic climate). For some clients it has severely impacted upon their confidence in their ability and self efficacy in their job role and in meeting organizational key performance indicators. I have specifically written an article entitled “Workplace Bullying: The Elephant in the Room” by Sheree Holland, Psychologist, Affirmative Psychology . This article provides some strategies to move beyond workplace bullying to become “bullet proof” (please follow the link below and/or copy and paste it into your web browser). Furthermore, you could research whether your organization has an employee assistance program (EAP) which may be linked to an external provider for confidential Psychological services.
