    Quitting smoking

I've been trying to quit smoking for a long time. I've been using patches and gum with decent success for a few years. Now I am recently married with kids and I want to quit nicotine completely. I've been trying, but when I don't have nicotine in my system, I become a lunatic. I'm horrible to be around and I know it's hard on my wife and kids. My wife struggles to understand (can't blame her) that I'm not in a reasonable state and need to be left alone. The kids have no concept, and can't be expected to understand any of this.

I don't know how to get through the worst of the withdrawal period without damaging my household. Should I try to stay with my parents for a few days a week? Should I talk to a counsellor and pastor every day? I honestly feel like I need distance and some third party to talk it out with. Coping strategies and stress management techniques only work when I'm not having cravings, but cravings are seemingly constant. Please help.
