Is surgery an option for chondromalacia?

Dec 2017 - misstepped again due to right ankle instability and twisted right knee badly
My left knee is deteriorating rapidly. I have been having conservative treatment (exercises, physio, weight loss) for 2 months, however, instability in both ankle and knee requires 24/7 brace/taping.

Is surgery an option to correct both at the same time?
