possible osteomyelitis in finger
I've had a sore index knuckle for 4months, and it's become more swollen and painful just recently. ( no tiredness, fever etc) I have no recollection of how i damaged the finger. I recently got referred to a hand specialist who looked over CT,MRI and xrays he told me to get. Initially the radiologist said it was a fracture but the specialist says not, he said there are no cysts, fractures, fluid just a small amount of inflammation and the MRI report confirms this and says possible osteomyelitis, cause of action treat with antibiotics and then follow up. He on the other hand was about to issue me antibiotics but was unsure what type, so he proceeded to book me in for finger surgery-biopsy to get an idea what he is dealing with. This requires general anesthetic and iv-2 days in hospital (possible 6 weeks of iv). Should i get a second opinion before going through all this? i have a heart condition and the less anesthetic i get the better.I haven't had blood test
