  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

    No feelings

Since 4 months ago I have realised that I have no emotions toward anyone or anything. My grandfather passed away and everyone was crying and I wasn't, I didn't feel bad or sad. I was just planning my lunch. This kid at my school said that I was gay and I told him I would break his neck if he said anything else. When I was sent to the principal's office I didn't feel anything, no remorse. When I watch a comedy I don't get the jokes or feel the need to laugh. I have often pondered the idea of "disappearing" no one would miss me and I wouldn't miss them.

    Hi Homaka,

Not being able to feel emotions and feel like disappearing are signs of someone needing to share how they thinking about themselves and their life with a caring adult. This can be a parent, teacher, school counsellor or your GP. If you don't feel like you can talk to an adult, I urge you to give Kids Helpline a call on 1800 55 1800.

If a phone call is not something you can do, you can talk to Kids Helpline over email or webchat here: https://kidshelpline.com.au/teens/

Kidshelpline can help you decide on next steps if you are not sure, and they are really lovely people to chat to about what is going on in your life.

If you don't feel like you can do any of this or if you are planning on how you could disappear you need to call 000 or your local hospitals mental health triage to get urgent support.
