  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

Should I ask for an EP study?

I am 44-year-old Female who had an arterial occlusion in an eye at 40 years. Had an ASD closed. Also, have moderate regurgitation from prolapsed mitral valve. On Rivaroxaban as cardiologist said good chance I am in A-fib at times. Episodes are far and few between. Was told to get an Alivecor. Had very bad palps. Alivecore said A-fib, but analysis came back as Atrial Flutter. Cardiologist agreed and said I should try and get a 12 lead ECG. I am tired of running to a Dr every time I have palps because by the time I get there it is normally over. I have started exercising a lot and I get what feels like many PVCs and runs of something. I was told to try and get a longer Alivecor tracing but I have lost the Alivecor device. I am not buying another one. Must I assume that, if this was a big problem, I would have been offered an EP study? I feel stupid to ask because the person I am with is highly regarded and I guess I look like a hypochondriac. Any advice appreciated.
