Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners
My catheter was taken out during labor.
I gave birth with an epidural and whilst pushing, my catheter balloon was pushed out. Then they noticed the bag was completely full and there was blood in it. My urethra is now terribly stretched. I am incontinent, it's not improving after nearly 3 months.
I would like to know if this could have been avoided. Should the balloon be deflated or removed prior to pushing? Is it normal to have blood in the bag and is this common to push out an inflated balloon?
