    Hello.

A heart requires a pacemaker when the electrical activity slows to levels that result in symptoms. The heart can be otherwise healthy when this electrical activity becomes impaired. Every heart has its own internal pacemaker and electrical channel system that can become impaired as we age.

Common symptoms to watch for are lightheadedness, dizziness and blackouts. While these symptoms are not specific to an electrical disturbance in the heart, the can be a sign that the hearts internal pacemaker is not functioning normally.
