  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

Is it advisable to have a third c-section?

At my second c-section, they had a bit of trouble getting my son out apparently there was quite a bit of scar tissue. Is it possible to have a third c-section after a surgery like that?

Yes, it is possible although the risks of the surgery increase every time you have another Caesarean section.

These risks include bleeding, damage to other organs such as the bladder, bowel and ureters(tubes running from your kidneys to your bladder)

The risk of your placenta attaching too low or too deep into the uterine muscle also increases and this increases your risk of hysterectomy.

All these risks increase gradually with each Caesar but then exponentially from the fourth one up.
