What is the impact of taking the braces out too early?

I've had my braces on for 9 months and recently requested to have them off as they hurt and cause pain, The orthodontic stated that my teeth most likely will return back to their original position even if i do wear my retainer for life! Is this true? Will my teeth move back to their original place due to being unstable?

It is possible for the teeth to relapse back to it's original position, however wearing the retainers regularly will certainly reduce the risk of that happening. Retainers should be checked by your orthodontist periodically to ensure they are still fitting well and are not distorted, and in the case of a bonded retaining wire, that they are still attached firmly to the the teeth.
