  • Q&A with Australian Health Practitioners

Can I get a replacement retainer for my teeth?

I haven't worn my retainer for a long time now (not a very wise decision) but I shove my retainer back in and the one side feels right and the other does not. I know the wire of your retainer is supposed to touch your teeth and it only touches my one front tooth and not the other. My teeth don't look bad at all, you can't even tell but my retainer does not fit and I just want to know if it is possible to get another retainer to fit my teeth the way they are without getting braces back on? I'm perfectly fine with the way my teeth are.

If you are perfectly happy with the teeth position there is no need for braces again to get a new retainer made. A new retainer will help to keep the teeth in this position providing it is worn regularly.

Please see your dentist or orthodontist, they will be happy to make you a new retainer, very quick and easy to do. Do not use old retainer that doesn't fit.
